Usage (Traditional & Modern)
1. For Tika / Tilak (Sacred Markings)
- Preparation: Pour a small amount of the powder into a clean container. Slowly add a few drops of water, rosewater, or milk and mix to form a smooth, thick paste.
- Application: Use your ring finger, a small stick, or a special tool to apply the paste as a Tika or Tilak mark on the forehead (Ajna Chakra/Third Eye). This is done before prayers, visiting a temple, or for daily wear as a sign of auspiciousness.
2. For Pooja / Rituals (Worship)
- Offering (Abhishekam): The paste can be offered to deities, idols, or sacred stones as part of the Abhishekam (ritual bathing/anointing).
- Decoration: It is used to decorate the pedestal, altar, or other ritualistic objects, imparting a cooling and sacred fragrance.
3. As Aromatic Powder
-
The dry powder can be sprinkled lightly on offerings of flowers or placed in a small dish on the altar to release its pleasant scent into the sacred space.
